When the Hubby & I first saw what was to become our first home together, I thought it was the perfect blank slate for us to make our own. Due to the bad economy we were able to purchase a foreclosed home for a great deal. Now, when most people hear “Foreclosure” they are a little leery of the condition of the house. Luckily this house was in great condition. We put in our low ball bid and waited. Well, low and behold our bid was accepted and the house was ours for the taking. YAY!
The inspection of the home went well and there were no major problems, however we had to ask for and extension due to some financing issues. Once those issues were resolved we decide to go back and see the house again just to make sure this is what we wanted. It’s a good thing we did because we walk in the front door and this is what greets us.
It seems as if some idiot kids broke in and vandalized the place. There were holes in the walls, red stains all over the carpet, a broken sink in the guest bath and broken glass everywhere. We contact the bank right away and let them know what had happened. Well, get this: they already KNEW!!! Can you believe it they knew the property had been vandalized since we put in our offer and even had some things repaired but never once thought to call US to let us KNOW! They were just going to let us move forward without telling us.
To make a long story short, we were able to renegotiate the deal so that the back would pay for the repairs. We were happy with that and we closed on the house on June 25th 2009.
OH HAPPY DAY!

Hi Marsha! It's so nice to "meet" you! Congratulations on your new home! Unbelievable story about the vandalism - how frustrating! I'm glad things worked out!
I look forward to your journey and seeing your projects. Make sure to keep me posted if there's anything you would like to "show off"! ;)
Welcome to the blog world!
